The long pending divorce proceeding of Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian is finally settled.
Ye agreed to pay Kim Kardashian $200,000 per month in child support as part of their divorce, which was finalized on Tuesday.
Kim Kardashian and Ye got married in 2014 and by the end of 2020, the couple planned to separate. In February 2021, Kardashian filed for divorce, stating in court documents that she experienced emotional distress because of Ye’s derogatory, social media posts about their family.
Both Ye and Kim Kardashian did make a few public appearances together despite their divorce proceedings. He helped her with her Met Gala outfit in 2021 and her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live in October 2021 (during which she joked about their divorce). She in turn agreed to recreate their wedding at one of his Donda listening parties in August 2021.
In the month of March 2022, however, a judge granted Kardashian’s request to be treated as legally single and to drop the “West” from her name, despite the divorce proceedings in court.
Kim and Ye share joint custody of their 4 children, Chicago, age 4, Psalm, age 3, North, age 9, and Saint, who will turn 7 in a month. However, neither party will make spousal support payments to the other.
The settlement proposal states that Kardashian and Ye will split equally the costs of the children’s security, education, and medical and dental bills.
The settlement also stated that they would each pay their own debts. The couple had drawn a pre-nuptial agreement and maintained their properties separate.
Between them, Ye and Kardashian are the owners of 19 different properties in four different states, including mansions, condos, estates, ranches, offices, and vacant lots of land in pricey Southern California.
According to court documents, Kardashian will retain ownership of her Hidden Hills mansion, nearby residential land plots, as well as her homes in Malibu and Idaho.
While Ye gets to retain ownership of his own Hidden Hills mansion, which is a short distance away from the Kardashians’ home, as well as a beachfront home in Malibu, office space, condos, undeveloped land in Calabasas, and a sizable ranch in Cody, Wyoming.
The settlement comes soon after several businesses severed ties with Ye due to his offensive and antisemitic remarks, which further damaged his already deteriorating public image.
